I photographed this scene on my spring 2021 backpacking trip to the canyons of Southern Utah. I stumbled upon this arch last year and set up a composition, but I wasn’t satisfied with the results. The arch is at an awkward angle, and I felt I could do better. I returned to that canyon this year with hopes of refining the composition. Thankfully nothing had changed after the passage of a year, and the weather was cooperative.

This photo was taken on Fuji Velvia 50 transparency film with a Fujinon C 450mm f/12.5 lens on an Intrepid 8x10 mk II view camera.
