I photographed this scene on my winter 2023 visit to Death Valley National Park. I found this canyon the year before while exploring the park, and loved this short-lived glow. I wasn’t able to photograph it on that trip, so when I returned in 2023, one of my goals was to try and find a way to photograph this scene. I arrived several hours early and set up my camera, crossed my fingers that no clouds would spoil the golden light, and exposed this sheet of Fuji Provia 100 at the very last minute before harsh direct light spilled into the scene.
