I photographed this scene on my fall 2019 trip Zion National Park in Southern Utah. I’ve always loved the look of the colorful maples set against large rocks in the various washes throughout the park, and it was on this trip that I found just the right composition in some nice soft light. Fall color is very fleeting in Zion, and within a couple days of taking this photo, most of the leaves were gone.
