I photographed this scene on my winter 2018 trip to Death Valley National Park. This was a tricky location to photograph because of its position relative to the sun. There are high mountains to the east that block the first rays of sunlight, and the sun sets behind the dunes so it never sees any warm evening light. I decided to leave my camera in place overnight, then try for a blue hour photo before sunrise the next morning. It was a very windy morning, but thankfully there were some breaks in the wind just long enough to expose my film.
