I photographed this scene on my spring 2019 backpacking trip to the canyons of southern Utah. This is a tree that I have admired on previous backpacking trips, but I never could quite find when the light was best. This canyon can become quite windy in the afternoon, so I was thankful to discover that it received ideal soft light just after sunrise.
